The first round of the tournament will begin on March 18th, 2007.

The Allied Intent Xtended team has posted up a new update today featuring some new planes. Take a look:

Due to a few PC problems i missed the update that Kysterama posted on the 18th of Feb, so better late than never, eh? several of you at BFSP will have already seen these in various forms in my (everchanging) sig so it won't be news to you, but this will at least make them official...

Go on, have a good laugh - you'll giggle all the way into the ground. these elderly Chinese fighter/bombers are enduring because they are rugged and are almost unbeatable in a close-quarters dogfight (almost) because they are a small plane with 2 engines, a dynamite combination. they also pack 3x 30mm cannons as well as their Alkali missiles and 250kg bombs. looks like this is one geriatric you won't be beating up in a dark alley...

This is an upgraded version of the Su-15, with better avionics and as such can carry laser-guided missiles as well as two cannon and two bombs. (this is not to be confused with the J-8 Finback, which was also developed from the Su-15) - they are not as agile as some of the other jets, but it would be foolish to ignore them - they tend to destroy whatever they hit. GameSpy has posted up a review of the latest release of Project Reality today. Here's what they had to say:

The differences are manifest as soon as you load your first map. A compact GPS display replaces the Minimap and those handy aiming crosshairs have vanished altogether. Unless you're packing a scoped rifle, you'll now have to sight down some old-school iron sights or alternatively, shoot from the hip and hope that your bullets find something fleshy. What's more, the heavier weapon recoil forces you to employ single-shot or semi-automatic fire a lot because full-auto can push the barrel of your gun skyward and really mess with your aim. The ammunition counter is also MIA so you'll have to manually count your fired rounds or just plan on reloading a lot more often.

Weapon kits are limited when you first begin but, once you're a member of a squad, Project Reality's Quartermaster system will dole them out on a limited basis. Hit the 'T' key when you're close to your base, a rally point or supply crate and you can request a special sniper, anti-tank or similar specialty kit from the game's integrated reservation system. Project Reality) also reserves kits for you when you die (you request them again when you respawn) but if you exceed two deaths in five minutes the reservation is broken and the kit becomes available to other soldiers.

There is a new media update posted today over at the Operation Peacekeeper mod website. Here's what they had to say:

It is probably one of the most popular helicopter models in the BF-Community and also a part of the classical tactical spine of the German Federal Armed Forces: The UH1D Huey.

After a lot of work at the details through our coder Starforce, the UH1D Huey is now ready to perceive his support tasks in OPK. Now, the BW also owns a transport helicopter, just like the Serbians can fall back on their Hind. The model was made by Badscull (BGF), skin by Blackjack (BF1918). The UH-1D HUEY will be included in our new maps as well as in the older ones.

Our "Embedded Correspondent", Captain Roger flew the first actions putting all his effort into it.

We have very sad news today coming from the BattleGroup-Frontlines mod team about the lose of a close member of their mod family. Here's what they had to say:

It is with a heavy heart that we bring you this update. A member of the BGF family passed away recently. One of our beta testers, Woody, lost a long fight with his health on 02-15-07, leaving behind a wife, daughter, and numerous friends. Woody`s association with us began as a beta tester for the Warfront mod and he joined BGF after the merger. While we feel the loss of a member, we extend our deepest sympathies to his family. He was a loving husband and a doting father, and our thoughts and prays go out to his family during this trying time. We know that Woody has gone on to a better place, free of the pain and hardships of this world, and for this we are thankful. Rest in Peace, brother.

Our thoughts and prayers as well go out to the family of Woody.

HKSniper is back today with his latest mod preview, this time we travel back to the Vietnam era with Eve of Destruction. Here's the introduction to this brand new preview:

I had the pleasure this weekend to be involved in the media party for the modification Eve of Destruction, and I've finally found my way out of the jungle to get this preview out for all of you.

Eve of Destruction has had a full history with the Battlefield series, beginning in it's first release for Battlefield: 1942, and continuing on up to Battlefield: Vietnam. For those who are clueless to what this modification is, simply put, you better have a decent pair of boots, because it's a jungle out there. Eve of Destruction puts you in the feet of the soldiers of the Vietnam war.

Eve of Destruction's environments will be a mixture of open areas and jungle areas. Some maps will feature activity with armor and air, while others may include no vehicles at all. In the play test I was involved in we did not have a chance to see any armor in action, but there were plenty of infantry fighting and some airborne action to be found.

We'd like to thank the Eve of Destruction team for letting TotalBF2 participate in the media party and we all look forward to the mod release!

The Allied Intent Xtended mod team is back today with a new media update for us all. Take a look:

Sorry for the lack of updates lately, as we have been very busy creating content for Allied Intent Xtended. I have 5 maps currently made for AI-X and I thought I might post some Pics. One exciting new addition to AI-X are weapon crates and pickup kits. You can change your soldier class from these weapon crates and pick up the guns on display which will be located at main bases in our maps. The ability to place sniper crates in strategic locations and change classes on the fly will surely add a new dimension to the gameplay. One such pickup kit is the as50 sniper kit. This bad boy is an armor piercing anti materiel rifle and can be found in strategic sniper spots that will surely add a huge advantage to the team that acquires it.

Here are some images of one of the maps. This map is called 'Archipelago' and is made up of a group of islands. Also on display we have the Steyr Aug, the accuracy international AS50 sniper rifle, the Silenced Mac11 and the Russian ka50 twin rotor attack helicopter.

There is a new update posted today over at the Black Sand Studios website. Here's what they had to say:

Black Sand Studios has another small update for everyone. We would like to welcome the BrickField mod. Every one should be quite familiar with those little colorful bricks and they are bringing them to the battlefield. You can visit their site here (http://www.Brickfield-Mod.org)

However they are not the only modification that recently joined the team we would also like to welcome the IDF-Fight For Independence mod.
