What is MokTok? MokTok is a web proxy, of course.
Ok smart ass, what is a web proxy? Ok, ok. A web proxy is a page that serves as intermediary between you and the site you want to visit. So instead of using your browser to directly access bebo.com or some other site, you access the proxy site and type in the url of the site you want to access. The proxy will then retrieve the contents of that url and show it to you. If you click in any link in the retrieved page the proxy will retrieve the contents of that link and show it to you. So you are always accessing the proxy, and not the actual web page you want to see.
But why would I want to do that? Isn't it easier to just access the page myself? It is. But using a proxy has some advantages. Since you never access the final pages directly no one knows that you are accessing them. This means several things.
The first thing it means is that you can access sites that are blocked by a third party, such as MySpace. As long as MokTok is not blocked, this sites won't be blocked either.
The second is that you become more anonymous. The final site doesn't see you IP, just the IP of the Proxy site.
And the third is that it can be more secure, since the proxy enables you to disable some things, like JavaScripts, that could make your browsing more insecure.
