Funimation recently informed fansub group Shinsen-Subs, "We own or control various exclusive copyrights and trademarks related to the animated motion pictures, including but not limited to, the series known as 揝peed Grapher, 揟rinity Blood, 揊ullMetal Alchemist, 揇ragon Ball, 揝olty Rei a.k.a. 揙rigin, 揇etective Conan a.k.a. 揅ase Closed, and 揟subasa." This was after Funimation had contacted the registrar for Shinsen-subs domain name, resulting in the registrar, Joker.com, freezing the domain name. Solty Rei and Tsubasa have not yet been announced for release by Funimation.
I suppose this explains that downtime Shinsen had late last week. The first 3 series (the best out of the bunch) have already been completed, Case Closed didn't draw a huge audience, and Tsubasa is subbed by at least 4 more groups.
I'm looking forward to Funi's SG release in Summer '06.
Brave Story is a movie based on a best selling novel by Miyuki Miyabe and will be directed by Koichi Chigira. Warner Bros. will be distrubiting the movie. They really haven't distributed a lot of movies, but they did do the Yu-gi-oh and Pokemon Movies, which even if you aren't a fan of... you can at least reconized the good job they did. As for the company behind this movie.... GONZO!!!!
Gonzo is a really really good studio.. Almost everyone here has seen a Gonzo series, for example: Black Cat, Trinity Blood, Last Exile, Gantz, Hellsing, Samurai 7, etc.. Gonzo does a real good job none the less. Like all Gonzo series, the animation is real clean and the OST sounds awesome! So i am excited to see this movie.
The Director, Koichi Chigira, hasn't done to many things, but he has done some notable ones. He directed both Full Metal Panic and Last Exile, and he also worked on Gundam Wing.
Hopefully the US will have a timely release for this movie. No date is set for the US yet.. The website for the movie has 3 languages built into it: Japanese, English, and Chinese. So hopefully that indecates something.. I did see a little teaser a few months ago for.. That little teaser alone made me want to see the movie.. and the Trailer is even better..
